I was born in Linz where I was raised bilingually by my Austrian father and my British mother. I received my degree as a primary school teacher (B.Ed.) in 1998 at the Pädagogische Hochschule in Linz along with a certificate for Inclusion/Integration and Teaching German as a Second Language.
Right after I had finished my studies I was longing to explore the world and accepted a post as a language assistant at a secondary school in England for a year. I had also spent some time in Switzerland and Italy working at different kids camps, before I started teaching in an Austrian inclusive primary school in Wels, Upper Austria in January 2001.
Beginning with the school year 2003/ 2004 I decided to expand my personal and professional horizon including two years of teaching experience at the German American School in Portland, Oregon (USA), a year at Cofradia Bilingual School (Honduras), 6 months of traveling through South America, as well as teaching a year at Vienna Elementary School.
Although I mainly stayed at home (Upper Austria) between 2008 – 2011 with my son Finley, this was also the time when my connection with LISA JUNIOR began. I worked as the substitute teacher during my husband’s maternity leave for a semester, and continued on part time as an English and German support teacher during the next year. During this time I also received a qualification in theatre pedagogy from the Pädagogische Hochschule Linz. After working at a local primary school in Linz between 2011 and 2013, my husband, my son and I got the unique chance to travel SE Asia and the USA for a whole year gaining irreplaceable and meaningful memories.
I joined the LISA JUNIOR team at the beginning of the school year 2013/ 2014 and have taught the Early Learning Center, Drama classes as well as the German classes in 5th grade.
I am very excited to start the position of the 1st grade home room teacher in 1L this school year!
I love teaching at an international school, as I believe that we can all learn from each other’s different cultures, languages and countries. Moreover I am very passionate about the importance to teach children in a differentiated and individualised way as well as helping them to learn by inquiring and thinking for themselves which goes along perfectly with the IB philosophy.
Besides traveling and exploring the world, I love skiing, hiking in the mountains, relaxing with a good book and most of all spending time with my family.
